USPA NEWS - The French President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron has decided to make it a priority of the French presidency of the G7.In 41 countries, the man is recognized in the law as the sole head of the family. The law requires the wife's obedience to her husband; 35% of women are victims in their lives of physical or sexual violence; women are overrepresented in vulnerable jobs and are paid overall 23% less than men; only 45% of countries achieved parity in secondary education.

Because these inequalities are unacceptable, the Renewing a Canadian initiative launched in 2018, he wished to surround himself with women and men from all over the world, determined to put their experience, their expertise, their determination, at the service of this great global cause that is equality between women and men. The first meeting of this Advisory Council was held at the Elysee Palace on February 19th. It has identified concrete action tracks on three priority topics: the fight against violence and discrimination; Access to education; Economic empowerment and women's entrepreneurship------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The President of the Republic wished that all the members of this Consultative Council, with the support of the Secretary of State Mrs. Marlène Schiappa and the secretariat of the Council, continue their work for the next deadlines, and can propose solutions and concrete tools for strengthening equality between women and men worldwide.---------------------------------------- A special effort will be made to improve the laws and normative frameworks of the G7 countries, as no progress can be sustained and effective unless it is based on sound legislative fundamentals.
