USPA NEWS - GP Austin Texas Bastianini wins and returns to the top of the World Championship.
GP of the Americas 2022, the fourth round of the MotoGP world championship, is held on the Austin circuit.
Enea Bastianini (Team Gresini) was given as the big favorite despite the fact that he started from fifth place behind four other Ducatis. But today Enea Bastianini showed that he can also race against pressure in a race that in some respects was very reminiscent of that in Qatar. Bastianini thrills and wins the second victory of the season, also taking the lead in the world championship. He preceded Alex Rins (Suzuki) and Jack Miller (Ducati). Fourth Joan Mir (Suzuki). Fifth for Francesco Bagnaia. Sixth Marc Marquez (Honda) Seventh Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).
At the start, all the Ducatis manage to sprint well. Jack Miller immediately takes the lead, followed by Jorge Martin, Enea Bastianini, Francesco Bagnaia and Johann Zarco. Marc Marquez starts badly due to a probable fault in the lanc control and goes to the penultimate position. Marquez does not lose heart and immediately begins his comeback and after six laps he was already eleventh!
Difficult race on the other side of the garage with Fabio Di Giannantonio who did not find the best feeling with this track, suffering a lot at corner exit and only finding 21st position on the finish line. The return to Europe in two weeks will certainly bring new energy to number 49, still looking for the first points in the world.
ENEA BASTIANINI # 23 (World leader - 61 points)
“We had studied the race exactly like this. At the beginning I suffered a bit in the first sector but I preferred not to force too much and stay in the wake of Martin. Then when Rins got under and we almost touched, I preferred to try to go. I passed Jorge and then Jack: I saw that I had something more and I tried. I made some mistakes during the first lap leading the race, but then I managed to put together a good pace. It is a fantastic victory, the result of incredible teamwork. We can be fast on all tracks even though I still live this season almost as a rookie, on the track I see that we have something to learn from others ”.
